Further to the item 'New Councillors' dated 12/01/22, here is an update. We stated in the news item that our ward councillor Simon Pearson had decided not to stand in the election to be held on Thursday, 5th May 2022. However, Simon had a change of heart and put himself forward to stand again, only to be de-selected by his 'comrades' in the local Labour Party. South Hampstead has now had two of its three ward councillors de-selected, following the earlier ban on Cllr Leo Cassarani.
In the same news item we pointed out that the election would be held for the new South Hampstead Ward (at present Swiss Cottage) and that Polling Districts within the Ward would change. For instance, residents in the northern section of the ward - roughly north of Canfield Gardens - will now be required to cast their votes at the Acol Bridge Club on West End Lane rather than the traditional venue of the Crossfield Centre on Fairhazel Gardens. Your Polling Station will be shown on your Poll Card which are sent out by Camden nearer to the election date. Members are reminded to check their Polling Station before heading out to cast their vote.
